So says the press release accompanying German electronic collective Jazzanova's first ever mix CD and it's a fair description of the styles and selections included on the disc. Ranging from soulful R&B to hip hop and even house, Mixing is a typically eclectic fusion of old and new cuts from the likes of Germany's Slope, Philadelphia's Jill Scott and London's Attica Blues, all thrown together in apparently haphazard though strangely effective fashion.
Standout tracks includes an exclusive cover version by Jazzanova themselves of Patrice Rushen's Let Your Heart Be Free and Deyampart's Held Him First, the housiest track on the mix.
Mixing is out now on Jazzanova's own label Sonar Kollectiv. File under eclectic (or Gilles Peterson).
