"And here's the most special record of them all. From Paris, France, it's Alan Braxe & Fred Falke with a track called Rubicon."
Writing on the sleeve-notes of his first mix CD indie popstar/ electro-pop DJ Erlend Oye provides extensive instructions on how to DJ properly and one of his key tips is to single out a signature track or a Magaburner- 'that one track that always works- that only you have a copy of' as he put it. Rubicon, as he goes on to thoughtfully announce on the CD proper, is Erlend's number one, though as thousands more DJs make it their megaburner track in the not too distant future, he'll presumably be moving on.
Though not necessarily, because like Braxe and Falke's previous 2 collaborations Intro and Running, Rubicon is similarly instant and equally effective, worming its way into your head, via it's devilishly catchy keyboard riffs. Reminiscent of Daft Punk's second album, though actually better, Rubicon will undoubtedly be one of the biggest club records of 2004.- C'est fantastique!
