Kill The DJ

Given that he dated New York club Killer Michael Alig for six years in the early 90s, Keoki's decision to name his new compilation Kill The DJ is not exactly tasteful, though in track selection and sequencing terms his new mix CD is positively refined.

Combining cutting edge electro (clash) faves with new wave classics from the likes of the Ramones, Dead Or Alive and Sigue Sigue Sputnik, the mix is a monster mash (up) of old and new club tunes, mashed-up and reconstituted into a seamless non-stop party groove.

Standout moments include Dirty Sanchez' fantastically sleazy 'Fuck Me On The Dancefloor' (sadly edited down to 2 minutes here), Ladytron's best track Seventeen and Scissor Sisters' Comfortably Numb while he's even managed to squeeze in an authentic radio broadcast announcing Sid Vicious' death.

Cheeky, irreverent and immediately enticing, Non-Stop Mash-Up is an impressive statement of electro intent, from a man who previously made his name in techno. Kill The DJ is out on Hypnotic Mix soon (long before Michael Alig).
