18 months after first popping up as an ultra-exclusive white label on DJ Hell's Gigolo Records, Atomizer's Hooked On Radiation is a defining anthem of London's still highly interesting 'electroclash' scene (though calling it that sparks a forcefield of negativity.
Atomizer keyboard player Fil OK, the song-writer behind Radiation though, is less fussed than most, particularly in relation to the track, he told Skrufff last week.
"Calling Hooked On Radiation an electroclash anthem sounds quite nice, because it's been out for so long," he said.
"But when people ask us what we call our sound I always say electropunk. But all genres are being mashed up right now anyway so it doesn't really matter."
Electroclash, electropunk, whatever, Hooked On Radiation is a italo-disco high energy beats of the very highest quality, the new Pet Shop Boys and John 'Punk Soundtrax' Taylor mixes merely polishing an already shining stone. The track is out now on Gigolo Records.
