With dull drizzly summers increasingly being replaced by southern Mediterranean- style sun baked scorchers in the UK, downtempo beachside maestro Chris Coco finds perfect chill out conditions increasingly on his own doorstep, which has presumably helped inspire his latest compilation CD.

Themed around what the Radio 1 late night DJ terms 'mood music', the double CD is heavily focused on songs rather than electronic tracks, including brilliant individual highlights like Flunk's haunting take on New Order's Blue Monday and Devic's Portishead-style ballad Red Morning. Blue States' anthem Metro Sound is another fantastically touching song in its own right, that's warm and entrancing evoking Balearic memories and lost days on the beach.

Reflecting Chris' impressively eclectic tastes (he's often to be found checking the nu electro at Nag, Nag, Nag) the collection includes Lamchop's altern-country tune Is A Woman and the Dandy Warhols' though the emphasis remains on undiscovered gems rather than familiar choices.

Easy, eclectic, acoustic and chilled, Acoustic Chill 2 is a fine selection of downbeat music from one of England's cleverest and clearest selectors.
