With Brighton's attractions including a horribly uncomfortable pebble beach, a lager lout soaked club scene that largely shuts at 2am and a reputation for being London's sink estate for dirty weekends, the likelihood of it inspiring a diamond quality compilation appear remote. Hotel Pelirocco's debut CD, however, is that undiscovered gem, a pearl amongst the Kiss Me Quick hats and candyfloss that otherwise tarnishesEngland's most (in)famous seaside resort.

Compiled by hotel owners Mick Robinson and Jane Slater, the CD clearly reflects their music business insider status and undisputed discerning taste, mixing less than obvious tracks from Primal Scream (Autobahn 66) with the Damned's hotel wrecking anthem Smash It Up (Parts 1 and 2). Along the way Henry Mancini's easy listening ballad Lujon sets off the laid back mood, taking in the dub of The Flames Zion and Ahmad's timeless hip hop tale Back In The Day.

Overall highlight tracks including Scissor Sisters' New York electroclash anthem Comfortably Numb and Fox's 80s sole pop smash Single Bed, Hotel Pelirocco, entertaining and impressing in keeping with all 20 tracks. The CD comes out on August 4 via Distinctive Records.
