Standing out immediately on Darren Emerson's latest Underwater compilation (Episode 2) Paul Wolford's new single is one of those peak time anthem records that's catchy, immediate and (appropriately) impossible to get out of your mind. Built around Angie' Brown's hooky soulful vocal, the track is reminiscent of the early 90s New York house tunes that helped create today's worldwide club scene, while its beats reflects Underwater's signature style, highly popular brand of dirty house.
Leeds based Woolford released his first record with fellow Underwater signing Tony Senghorre aged 21 (he's now 27), going on to collaborate with Yousef, Steve Mac and Mat Playford. Also now jointly running a label with Erick Morillo and Back to Basics chief Dave Beer (What Goes Around), he's superbly placed to capitalise on his hook-up with Underwater, which sees Out Of My Mind released on July 21. Rather than just adding remixes, he's also added a new track for the B side, he has a lot more to come.
