Still dominating the sets of DJs from Nag's Fil OK to Larry Tee and John 'Droyds' Taylor, Fascination is an electroclash anthem that's burst out of nowhere to kick start what's been a relatively fallow period musically for the rapidly expanding electro club scene.
Created by multi-genre crossover type John Ross (here using his Proper Filthy Nasty persona) the track develops in classic pop song verse, chorus, verse, chorus style, with a hugely catchy female vocal underscoring its unashamedly 80s style in obvious though effective effect.
Oozing camp sex appeal and echoing Steve Strange's Visage (the original mix even starts off in French) Fascination is both cheesy but sophisticated, working as well as a club floorfiller as it does on the radio. Its best mixes are two by The Droyds (no wonder John Taylor's caning them so much) though the whole package is impressive.
Fascination is out now on 10 Kilo Records.
