Always recognised as superior sometimes brilliant song-writers, English psychedelic pop/electro types Talk Talk never quite matched the commercial heights of their 80s peers like Tears For Fears or even Blancmange, but they nevertheless created a body of work that's stood the test of time for 20 years.
And standing up there towering above pearls like Such A Shame, Today and Life's What You Make It, is their 1983 anthem It's My Life, cleverly updated here with a simple drum beat provided by Liquid People. The new producers, in fact, maintain so much of the original's integrity on the main vocal version that it's almost a straight remix, save for its DJ friendly intro, which signposts the track for ultra-easy, compatible 4/4 mixing.
Pete Tong broke the track initially last year, spinning a white label on the terrace of Ibiza's Space, where it was greeted enthusiastically as the Balearic anthem the original truly is. Two new similarly DJ friendly dub versions have been added for Nebula's upcoming release, that should see Talk Talk talked about again.
