"The world's most famous DJ" as Ministry of Sound called him on their first ever mix CD returns with another excellent collection of soulful house tunes, this time dedicated to the music that soundtracked New Jersey's most renowned club Zanzibar. Always in the shadow of its Manhattan equivalent The Paradise Garage, the 80s warehouse style venue was a key location in the birth and early growth of house music, and central to that story was Tony Humphries.

Unusually for a DJ compilation, all the tracks are unmixed though the selection follows a simple story, kicking off with Mass Production's Welcome to Our World and ending two hours later with Archie Bell's Where Will You Go When The Party Is Over. In between top quality house tracks, many with soulful, uplifting messages abound from Bohannon's irrepressively funky Me and The Gang (in which his entire group introduce themselves in comical Floaters style fashion) to Cher's Take Me Home.

Obvious disco anthems of the era are conspicuous by their absence, though Humphries' impeccable selection of top quality club tracks will appeal to all house and garage fans whatever the age or ilk. The double compilation comes out on Azuli Records shortly.
