While rock music remains stuck in its 40 year Anglo/US axis of mediocrity, electronic dance music continues its allcomers-welcome globalising attitude with 2003 marking Canada as the latest country to jump aboard the worldwide dance bandwagon.

And just as France helped broaden house music's palette via Daft Punk's template setting take on filter disco in 1997, Canada, via the likes of Tiga and his ground-breaking independent label Turbo Recordings is now rightly recognised as an important player in today's flourishing electro (clash) scene. Turbo Studio Sessions Volume 3 demonstrates why, providing an excellent selection of many of the biggest electro dance floor tunes of the year so far. And reflecting the scene's truly global flavour, the double CD includes tracks from America, Germany, Canada and beyond, it's the selection and programming highlighting Turbo's deserved reputation as a label with the prestige of DJ Hell's Gigolo Records.

The compilation splits into the Turbo's two sub-imprints Faberge and White Leather, White Leather being the most accessible with its inclusion of electroclash anthems from Scissor Sisters, Mount Sims and Crossover Tiga's mix of Revenge). Faberge is distinctly more hip hop/ old skool electro orientated with Canadian's Chromeo providing two tracks (Needy Girl and their superb downtempo anthem you're So Gangsta) and Black Strobe's Me and Madonna. Other highlight tracks include FPU's synth anthem Seven Of Nine, Martini Bros' The Biggest Fan and Plastique De Reve's Buffalo Gals inspired Rodeo Mechanique.

The Turbo Studio Sessions Volume 3 is out now and provides an excellent selection of many of the biggest electro dance floor tunes of the moment.
