Augie March For those eagerly awaiting the next Fall's titbit you need no longer sweat as the first day's lineup of the three day picnic is announced.
To open the festival in Lorne come spectacular performances from: Those Seattleites lauded by MOJO as 'America's next great band', come the ghostly melodic interludes of Fleet Foxes* (USA); darlings of the Oz music scene, the captivating Augie March; UK’s cult-indie rockers Q Magazine labelled as ‘The biggest cult band in the UK’ The Cribs (UK); Electro-synth surveyors of new age-mayhem Late Of The Pier (UK); turntablism prodigy A-Trak (Canada); the return of powerhouse rockers Rocket Science; bluesman Ash Grunwald*; the wailing and energetic British India; 9-piece Latin hip-hop troupe Labjacd and the stunning vocals from TinPan Orange (*denotes acts also playing Tas; all others playing Lorne on the 29th Dec only). And to kick of 2008’s proceedings, for the first time in Marion Bay, The Falls Festival proudly present to you The Falls Funk’n’Soul Revue; a hip-happenin’ bayside hustle. An afternoon and evening of this country’s finest funk, soul, bossa-nova & boogaloo from the very best specialist DJ’s this country has to offer. Spinning the platters that matter; vintage 45’s all the way from the Deep South of the US of A all the way to the deep dwellings of the Apple Isle, for a go-go dancin’, hip shakin’, soul groovin’ par-tay. Once you’ve given your tail feather a good ole’ shake, kick your dancin’ shoes off and relax from dark ‘til late in front of Films in the Field, or venture off for a whimsical adventure at the grand opening of The Falls Arts Village. There are limited full festival tickets available, plus a capped amount of two day tickets, check The Falls Festival website for details. Falls Festival subscribers will start to receive their purchase tokens from September 1st - so check your inbox. All remaining tickets go on sale 9am September 9th.
