Its been nearly 12 months since we last saw the Kid and Shureshock in these parts so a return visit is long overdue.

Countless accolades, awards, records and firsts have been the hallmark of Kid Kenobi’s illustrious 13-year DJing career. From being named Australia’s favourite DJ for a record number 3 years from 2003 – 2005, receiving an award for his first remix ever (of Green Velvet’s “La La Land’ ), to an ARIA nomination for ‘The Bump’ with Hook N Sling, knocking up over 20 remixes for some of the world’s biggest names in dance, pop and rock, being the first DJ ever to have a CD series named after him by Ministry of Sound, to having an itinerary that reads like a Lonely Planet guidebook to the best nightclubs around the world, Kid Kenobi has just about done it all.

Many would have been satisfied with this, sticking to the same formula that had brought them so much, but the Kid yearned for more.

Fed up and disillusioned with the direction of dance music in 2007, Kid Kenobi realised his only salvation would come from taking responsibility for his own artistic journey and creating for himself the music he needed to hear. It was a great time of transition. Friends and family were replaced with solitude in the studio, partying was replaced with the gym and early morning starts in the studio, disappointment was replaced with inspiration, and a new chapter in the Kids career was born. Out of this transition was born Two Fresh – a new collaboration with his brother Hugga Thugg (together they have already remixed the likes of P-Money, Soda Boys, and Tone Loc), out of this was born Kosmic Kids – a new outlet for the Kid’s love of deeper sounds - out of this was born his first independent compilation ‘Klub Kids 01’, and out of this was born Klub Kids itself, Kid Kenobi’s own record label and new home to all the music he has and is yet to write.

It’s perhaps a cliché to say the future looks ‘bright’, but there seems no other word to describe that which lays ahead.

Kid Kenobi is joined by MC Shureshock and locals Kyle Mosely, Lids, Billy Green, Adam Turner and Mylestone at HALO Nightclub Saturday 14th November.

Presale tickets are $20 from Ruffcut Records or more on the door.
