"We're fed up with people saying that techno is dead. Maybe we are one of the last techno acts, but we're still here."

Speaking to DJ magazine recently, Youngsters producer Gilles Escoffier described his band's excellent new album Army of 1-0 as a tool to help defend techno and first single Place, Race and Face is certainly a powerful tool have in such a fight.

Melodic, hook filled and filled with interesting, socially conscious lyrics that demand attention, the track hails firmly from the 80s tinged song-based school of techno currently championed by fellow Frenchmen the Hacker, Oxia and Agoria, which is no coincidence, given that they're all mates. However, the track is distinctive in its own right, reflecting the clear vision Gilles and his fellow Youngster Oliver Mateu have projected so well on their equally high quality album Army of 1-0.

Place, Race and Face is out on April 5 and includes an additional more dance floor orientated mix by Agoria.
