Following on from the very successful nights at the Uni bar each Wednesday, TUUDMS has announced the creation of an Amateur DJ competition to take place from Wednesday the 23rd of July.
TUUDMS is currently attempting to attract as many amateur DJ's as possible to make this competition of the highest quality. It is open to all amateur DJs playing any style of dance music including Breaks, House, Tech, Drum & Bass, Trance and even scratching to give the event a broad appeal.
The requirements for Amateur status are fairly unrestricted with only those DJ?s that have regular gigs to be excluded at this time. However TUUDMS reserves the right to assess each entry and may exclude any potential entrant that they feel comes under ?professional? status.
The competition will be held over a series of Wednesday night heats to allow all entrants a fair time to show their skills. There will then be a final with the winners from each heat to compete for the title of champion. TUDDMS have already received interest from an interstate DJ / Producer in performing on the final night as well as judging to make the competition free from any appearance of biases that may arise due to the size of the Tasmanian dance scene. Judging will be done on a number of criteria including mixing skill, track selection and technical ability.
The winner of the competition will receive great prizes from local supporters of dance music and culture, Ruffcut Records and Klued in Clothing, a paid gig at a future event and the publicity that being named Tasmania?s best amateur DJ will bring.
DJ?s who wish to enter should contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , write to us at: TUU Dance Music Society, P.O box 950, Sandy Bay, 7006.
